Le Marche Bohemien began in 2014 and this year says, “Bonjour to Instagram,” with the launch of a new social account to represent the Parisian inspired marketplace. The League Lady has been working with an Israeli artist, Yoram Gal who was booked to participate in the March 2021 show. In a search to cross-promote it was discovered the brand had no presence on Instagram. We reached out to Christine Baer, the Creative Director at Sarasota Downtown Merchants Association, and offered to build and launch @lemarchebohemien for the event.
In less than one week, prior to the March 20, 2021 event date, a new Instagram account was created and dozens of images posted. The photos included a broad span of the artists and vendors, plus an archive of on-site shots showcasing the booths in downtown from previous years. The account had 50 posts and 51 new followers by the week after the event. The promotional video featuring Michelet Innocent, who serenades attendees with beautiful French songs, was also uploaded to the IG story with tags to the downtown partners for additional exposure and then saved as a highlight.
It took an hour to research the list of artists provided by Le Marche Bohemien and make note of their Instagram accounts and then about two hours to create all the posts and tags within a week. The client was billed a fee of $120 for the new site and given the login credentials to takeover to manage in-house. Going forward the event will be able to use the site as a Call for Artists, pre-show marketing, on-site coverage, and a post-event recap. The value of the visibility far exceeds the cost to implement the new account.
The outdoor experience is a unique open air market of up to 50 juried vendors in downtown Sarasota, Florida. The annual event is an eclectic blend of local artisans and held in Selby Five Point Park, one of Sarasota’s beautiful parks at the end of Main Ave. Vendors will be set up under the trees on the wide sidewalk that wraps a portion of the Selby Five Points Park under the trees. There will be unique, one-of-a kind treasures. Entertainment and food vendors will add to the European open air ambiance. Vendors will offer for sale eclectic, vintage, shabby, re-purposed, coastal products.
Sponsored by the Sarasota Downtown Merchants Association, and the Downtown Sarasota Enrichment Association, Le Marche Bohemien is not your usual arts and craft fair. The DSEA is a non-profit organization that was developed to promote awareness of the local merchants in the business community. They organize and implement more than 10 downtown events each year, advertise through local publications and online media outlets, and network with neighborhood merchants.
